Frequently Asked Questions

This is your one stop shop for the most common information we are asked aboutl

1. Do You Believe the Bible is the Word of God?

Yes, United Baptist Church believes that the Bible is the Word of God. The Bible is absolutely true without any mixture of error. The Bible is our authority for what we think, believe, and do. Psalm 119:142 says, " Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,

and Your instruction is true." For more on our belief's about the Bible click on the "What We Believe" page under Discovering UBC.

2. Do You Only Use the King James Version of the Bible?

No, United Baptist Church does not believe in the exclusive use of the King James Bible. The King James Bible is a valuable tool and stands as a testimony of God's work in providing his word to his people. However, there are many faithful translations of the Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic text that are available to use. Our pastor preaches from the Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) and this is the Bible that we offer freely to others through our church.

3. Does Your Church Have a Dress Code?

No, United Baptist Church does not have a formal dress code. Rather we encourage everyone to bring their best before the Lord in their worship. For some that is the work clothes they were wearing as they just came off shift, for others their best are shorts and sandals, still others wear a coat and tie, and many wear jeans. Everyone is invite to join us in our times of worship and a dress code is the last thing anyone has to worry about with us.

4. How Do You Pay For All of This?

United Baptist Church is fully supported by the giving of its membership. We believe that God provides us with the resources to do the work he has prepared for us to do and the means he generally uses to make this provision is the generosity of those attending the church. 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 says, " Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work." We believe this and have experienced this to be truth throughout our history.
